When Your Opponent Has an Extra Leg...

Will AI ever take over Jiu Jitsu?

I recently asked an AI portal to create a picture of a Jiu Jitsu match, and the above image was generated. At first glance, it looks cool, like she's got the guy right where she wants him and is about to get a submission after taking his back.

But when you look closer, count the number of legs she has.  Yep! You're not seeing things -- SHE HAS THREE LEGS!

Sometimes in your Jiu Jitsu, you're going to feel like your opponent has three legs. It seems that whatever you do, you get wrapped and controlled and can't escape.

And that's how life can feel for us sometimes. No matter what we do, or how hard we try, we are facing an opponent with extra limbs.

Here's what I do...

When I feel like tapping out, because I'm being tightly controlled and can't get free, I ask Jesus for help. I know that's a simple idea, but I've found it's something he wants to do -- he wants to help.

Check out this story in Matthew 9:27-30 when Jesus heals two blind men (hint: pay special attention to verse 28)

27) "As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
28) When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "Yes, Lord," they replied.
29) then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith let it be done to you"
30) and their sight was restored...

In verse 28, the word translated "to do" is a word that is also used in Genesis in the Septuagint (LXX -- the Greek version of the Old Testament of the Bible) when God was first making the world.

Jesus was making a new world for these blind men -- he gave them sight!

Now, you may not need new sight, but I know this for sure -- we all face moments when we need Jesus to create a new reality for us. A new perspective, a new start, a second chance (again and again and again). And from this story, he seems eager and willing to do it!

I don't know what kind of opponent you're fighting in life. Sometimes it's so deep and private, that it's just too hard to put into words.

But know this -- just as Jesus gave these two blind men a new reality -- he wants to do the same for you. He wants to create new life for you, every day.

Maybe that's what Lamentations 3:23 means when it says, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

Your opponent has an extra leg? Don't worry -- Jesus can still win -- just ask him.

Keep Rolling,
Brian
